Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo after victory over Sevilla: 'We played well in a difficult game and we're very happy'

The in-form Portuguese star says that his team have achieved their objective to be at the summit of La Liga by the Christmas break
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo says that his team are hoping to carry their 2011 form into the new year, following their 6-2 thumping of Sevilla at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The Portugal international netted his fifth hat-trick of the season, while Jose Maria Callejon, Angel Di Maria and Hamit Altintop also scored in Los Blancos' comprehensive win in their Primera Division game in Seville on Saturday.

With Madrid now three points clear at the top of the table, Ronaldo believes that they are in the best position to challenge rivals and defending champions Barcelona for the title.

"We've achieved our objective," he said. "We leave for Christmas with a three-point cushion. We played well in a difficult game and we're very happy.

"I don't care what people say about me. I just do my job and focus on my team. We played well tonight and we're anxious to play again."

Callejon echoed his team-mate's comments and said that he was happy that Jose Mourinho selected him to start against Sevilla.

"It is never easy to play or win here," said the attacker. "It's obvious we had to win this game to be leaders by Christmas.

"We have to be in top form always for the coach. We achieved our goal tonight, which is what matters. We're leaders.

"The coach decided to use me as a starter and the good thing is we played a good game."
