Valencia captain Carlos Marchena has given assurances today that his team-mates have not complained to the Association of Spanish Footballers about their pay, which they have not received for several weeks.

The reaction from the defender comes amidst rumours that some of the players have made it known that they are not happy with the situation.

However, Marchena told El Mundo Deportivo that everyone is relaxed and they are not worried about the money.

"We have not spoken to the Association, neither the captains nor the rest of the players," he stated.

"The team continues to be relaxed, confident in the management of the club and the workings of the president. We are all united.

"We ask that nothing more is said about this issue so that it does not constantly contradict this information."

Certainly the pay troubles appear to be affecting Valencia on the pitch at the moment; they have struggled to pick up victories in the Primera Division lately.

Marchena assures that the players have faith in president Vicente Soriano and explained, “His word gives us confidence and we do not need to ask for explanations."

Valencia take on Dynamo Kiev at the Mestalla this evening as they look to progress in the UEFA Cup.
