The coach knows his side need to get a result against Deportivo on Sunday...Valencia coach Unai Emery has admitted today that his side cannot use defensive injuries as an excuse against Deportivo La Coruna this Sunday.
Los Che will be without both Miguel and Emiliano Moretti, who are injured, and also Raul Albiol, who is suspended.
However, Depor have plenty of injuries woes themselves and Emery told Marca that absences "cannot be an excuse".
"We are suffering a lot, but we must adapt," he mused. "One always foresees problems, but not in this quantity -all these injuries and suspensions. "
One man who looks as though he will be playing after recovering from injury is Cesar, who Emery said has recovered "very well" thanks to his "enormous will".
Despite the injuries, Emery assured that he has a "strong side" at his disposal who have a "good opportunity" to break their "bad run of form".
Certainly they still have a potent front line, although the coach acknowledged that the key could be not conceding.
"We need the team to be together," he declared. "For everyone to defend together and try and keep a clean sheet, and then to go forward and cause trouble, too."
Emery is predicting a difficult game against Deportivo, though, who he says "are a better team than last season".
He added, "[Depor] have grown and matured under [Miguel Angel] Lotina. I believe that they are a good side, so it will be extremely difficult."
