Ramos Agrees Real Madrid Must Perform Better
After watching his side secure another narrow victory over Deportivo, The boss insists performances matter, as well as results...
Four wins, and only one goal conceded in January is exactly the kind of even keel required for Real Madrid after the tumultuous end to the Bernd Schuster era had led to a series of roller coaster results.
Now Juande Ramos has Los Blancos winning again, and their Raul-inspired 1-0 victory over Deportivo put them three points clear into second place behind runaway leaders Barcelona.
However, the former Sevilla and Spurs coach insists that since the results are beginning to arrive, they must be matched with a suitable level of performance.
He said, "Now we have found the winning momentum, and it was important to move clear of our rivals.
"I am pleased with the attitude and determination of the players, we have succeeded in keeping clean sheets in defence but we must continue to work because there is a lot of improvement left."
Lacking Fluidity
Ramos then hinted that the teams style of play has not reached its true potential and that showing their true quality is next up on the list.
He continued, "I agree the Madrid must play better. We are lacking fluidity at the moment, but the initial goal was to win matches. Now we have achieved that, we must show the quality we are capable of."
He finished by calling on the followers of Los Merengues to be patient, and continue to offer their unbridled support.
He concluded, "The fans are critical are demanding, but this is a virtue that makes Madrid one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The team needs them, and if we have their support we can achieve an excellent end to the season."
