Real Madrid's injury crisis shows no signs of abating, with Christoph Metzelder and Rafael Van Der Vaart being the latest players to take a trip to the medical room.

Metzelder broke his nose during the final minutes of the 1-0 win over Valencia, when he was involved in a goalmouth scramble following a corner. He will undergo an operation on Monday, before traveling to Germany for rest and recuperation.

Rafael Van Der Vaart, meanwhile, had to be withdrawn due to a problem in his left leg, and his situation will be further diagnosed tomorrow.

Metzelder and Van Der Vaart now join Pepe, Gabriel Heinze and Wesley Sneijder on the treatment table, not to mention Ruben De La Red, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, and Mahamadou Diarrà, all of whom are out for the rest of the season.
