Fiorentina paid €8 million to sign Felipe Melo from Spanish club Almeria last summer, but the 25-year-old’s valuation has now shot through the roof after his impressive performances earned him his first Brazil cap.

Melo was called up by Selecao boss Carlos Dunga for the friendly game with Italy and even played from the start at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

According to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, Juventus have now added the gifted midfielder to their summer shopping list.

The transaction will not be an easy one. Not only is there a troubled relationship between the two clubs but the Gigliati are unlikely to accept less than €20m for their prized asset.

Juventus will look to bolster their midfield options for next season as Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen, who joined from Sevilla last summer, has failed to impress coach Claudio Ranieri.
