Fiorentina hit-man Alberto Gilardino appeared in court on Thursday morning to testify against extortionist Fabrizio Corona.

Corona is an Italian business man, who is accused extortion against a number of sporting celebrities. He has already spent time in prison for extortion in the past.

On Thursday morning, Alberto Gilardino testified against Corona in court, revealing that he was a victim of extortion, paying Corona €6,000 for some pictures of himself, his friends, and a woman in a disco.

"I was very young," explained Gilardino, according to Reuters. "I was building my professional future at Parma and I did not know what would come out of those pictures, so I asked Corona to take them off the market."

This is likely to be Gilardino's last involvement in the case. He was involved in Fiorentina's 2-1 win over Napoli on Wednesday and will now rejoin his teammates. He is set to start in the match against Bologna on the weekend.
