It seems certain that the 22-year-old is ready to leave the Florence side in the current transfer window, but up until now his destination has been a mystery, with various Italian, German, English and French sides interested.
Turin giants Juventus were the most recent club to join his band wagon and make an offer for the stopper.
Juve are looking to bring in a few players as reinforcements, with the back-line being particularly affected by injuries this season. The offer tabled by Juventus was not enough to convince Fiorentina to let him go, and this news has now reopened the way for another of Da Costa's admirers.
Reports from L'Equipe now suggest that French heavyweights Marseille are in pole position to seal a deal, with negotiations at an advanced stage.
The centre-back, who arrived in Italy from PSV Eindhoven in January, saw his first start in September, and has only made one other appearance for the Viola since then.
Following these reports, Ligue 1 seems the likeliest destination for the youngster.
