As the end of the year approaches, it is inevitable that the transfer rumour mill begins to churn out stories of the potential destinations of unsettled players and the clubs that hope to land a great player for a bargain.

A player that has been in the news a great deal recently is Fiorentina's Giampaolo Pazzini, and the striker is looking likely to leave Florence in January, with a long list of Italian clubs keen to get him to sign a contract with them.

The former Under-21 international is a diamond in the rough in many respects, and the Viola stand to lose a very talented striker to one of their competition.

The attacker scored nine goals last season for Fiorentina, and was impressive all round, but this time around he has not been given a chance to shine with the forward line packed with too many strikers, including Adrian Mutu and Alberto Gilardino.

Palermo, Sampdoria, Bologna and Torino are all reportedly following the Fiorentina striker, who is expected to hand in a transfer request at his club, so that he can move on to another team in search of more playing time.
