Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino admits his club will be putting up a number of players for sale in January after their elimination from the Champions League.

Apart from losing their credibility in Europe, the Viola lost out on the chance to get their hands on the prize money which comes with qualification for the last-16.

Corvino has now warned that a big squad is no longer needed given the change in the club's commitments, and thus the Viola are likely to be the first club in Serie A sticking up the 'sale' posters.

"I think two or three players will be leaving in January," Corvino told Datasport.it.

"We kept a large number of players because we had the Champions League, but now we will try and put a few players up for sale during the transfer window."

Now it's a trip to Roma, to try and pick up the pieces and some much-needed points at the Stadio Olimpico.

"Roma have a game in hand still and thus they are in a great position to qualify for a top-four place," added Corvino.

"We have to be careful and not make mistakes as they are in confident mood."
