Arrigo Sacchi has suggested that the key to a Fiorentina victory over Bayern Munich in this week's Champions League clash will be the Italian team's mental approach.

The Viola suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena a fortnight ago and are still without a win in Champions League Group F after three rounds.

They are also fresh from the crushing Serie A loss to Siena last weekend and their morale is at a low-point going into this crucial tie.

“The Gigliati have to take the full points in order to make the knock-out stage,” Sacchi told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Bayern are a very dangerous side, based not only on their international experience, but also on the quality players they have throughout the squad. They were in crisis at the start of the season, but are now over it.

“Fiorentina need to be adventurous, and count on their renowned tactical system, as they can only hope to defeat the Germans through good football and collective efforts.

“They have to follow coach Cesare Prandelli’s dogma, their physical condition looks good, although not at 100 per cent, but fear and inexperience could hold them back. This must not happen.”
