Atlético Madrid might have had a miserable start to the season, but the Champions League side have certainly finished it in style.
Los Rojiblancos have bounced back from losses to Sevilla, Barcelona and Real Madrid to finish the year third in the league, and still in Europe.
Typically though, rumours have started about Sergio Agüero leaving the club to pursue new goals this winter. However, president, Enrique Cerezo insisted he doesn't think the player will be going anywhere.
"I believe that Kun wants to be here for life, and we want that too. Players play where they want to play, and he wants to play for Atlético," he declared to Marca.
Cerezo also spoke briefly about comparisons made between Agüero, and former player Fernando Torres, saying that at the moment, he prefers the Argentine, as he is with his team.
Nevertheless, Agüero has not been in the best of the form lately, seemingly feeling the effects of tiredness and a hard year, that has seen him win Olympic gold with his country. Even with him not playing to his full potential, Atlético have impressed recently, and Cerezo is pleased with the third place finish to the year.
"I am pleased that Atleti are thid, and what worries me now is chasing the top two. We are going to fight for everything," he boomed.
Certainly Atlético look as though they could be busy this winter bringing in reinforcements, and they could have already had another star player in their ranks in the summer, according to the president.
"Diego was in our plans, but the financial demands were too much, [David] Silva could have been one of our signings though," he concluded.
