Their hosts are on a miserable run of form and currently sit just one place above the relegation zone, whilst Atlético are up in fifth.
However, it looks as though they might have to make the trip without Tomas Ujfalusi, after the Czech failed to complete training today.
Marca reports that the defender has been struggling with an injury since Monday and today it finally caught up with him as he pulled out of the session in the morning.
It is likely that either Pablo Ibañez or Luis Perea will replace him at the centre of defence if he can't play, but as of yet there has been no official word.
Javier Aguirre coached nearly a full squad today and bar a few minor injuries there is little else to worry about for the Espanyol game.
The Madrid side are unbeaten in the league since mid-October and to finish this half of the season in fourth would be a perfect tonic after an inconsistent beginning.
