Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan's omission from the Atlético Madrid team that played out a goalless draw in the Reyno de Navarra ten days ago caused coach Javier Aguirre to receive some criticism.
But he returned to the team on Sunday and scored twice in Atlético's 4-1 victory against Deportivo in the Vicente Calderón.
"I do not like being on the bench. If I do not play then I am unhappy because I always want to, but I understand that the coach is the one that decides," Forlán told Marca.
"I did not speak to the coach. I only thought about waiting for my next chance."
Atlético's form in the league was beginning to be questioned, with Aguirre's position even being doubted, but Forlán was delighted to have helped the team return to winning ways.
"It is always special to score, but goals are even more important when the team wins," he continued.
"We needed the three points and the team played well so now we are back up in the European positions."
