Republic of Ireland captain Shay Given has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United in the January football transfer market.

It has been rumoured that the 32-year-old is looking to leave St. James' Park sooner rather than later, but club coach Joe Kinnear is adamant that Given will still be in the black and white come the closure of the window.

He has applied the same thought to Michael Owen, the former Real Madrid forward.

"In my eyes, Shay is still going nowhere," Kinnear said to the Evening Chronicle.

"He's got a major role here, as has Michael Owen. And they both proved they are focused and committed to this club."

Given, who is officially "considering his future," is under contract until 2011, while Michael Owen's deal ends in June of this year.
