Marc Janko is nothing if not prolific. The Austrian international has netted 30 goals in just 20 games this season for his club side Salzburg.

The striker has now announced that he would like to test himself in the more demanding surroundings of the English Premier League, and has issued something of a 'come and get me' plea to Premier League sides, most notably Tottenham Hotspur.

"I definitely want to play in The Premier League. Tottenham are certainly among my favourite clubs," the 25-year old front man told World Football magazine.

Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough are also believed to be keeping tabs on the player, who has scored five hat-tricks this season, as well as already setting a new scoring record for a season in the Austrian Bundesliga with only half the season played.

Georg Stangassinger, Janko's agent, has also confirmed that three, as yet unnamed, English clubs are tracking the striker.

"We have had good talks with three English clubs and one has already relayed its interest in writing," he confirmed earlier.

Whether Harry Redknapp is prepared to take a gamble on a player as yet untried in one of Europe's top leagues remains to be seen. Strikers who have performed well in 'lesser' European leagues often struggle in England, Alfonso Alves of Middlesbrough being a case in point.

What is certain is that the limited confines of the Austrian Bundesliga will not hold Janko for long, and England is beginning to look his most likely destination.
