Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is ready to make a January transfer window bid for Manchester City captain Richard Dunne, who could be one of the players on his way out of the club in the January shake up.

The Ireland international would be available at around about £3 million, a bargain for such a solid centre back.

The 29-year-old could be on his way out of the club despite having signed a four year contract extension at Eastlands.

Man City boss Mark Hughes is expected to spend big in the January transfer window, following the cash injection from the Abu Dhabi United Group, and is thought to be eager to re-shape and re-strengthen the City defence.

Dunne was a summer transfer target for Redknapp when he was manager at Portsmouth, but any deal between the clubs failed to go through.

Redknapp is also keen to sign a stronger defensive replacement for captain Ledley King, who is very prone to injury and has to be nursed through matches.

City captain Dunne has made a total of 266 appearances for the Manchester based club, scoring seven times since his move from fellow Premier League side Everton eight years ago.
