Lazio slumped to their fourth home defeat of the
season, their second in succession, as a result of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of
Milan earlier
tonight.
Despite controlling the play for the large part of the first half, the Biancocelesti were stunned five minutes prior to the half time interval, when Pato scored the first for Milan following a great counter attacking play.
Things went downhill for the blue half of Rome from there, as they eventually conceded three, which has consequently seen them drop to tenth place in the standings.
Following the contest, the coach of the club Delio Rossi made it clear that he was disappointed with the fact that his players failed to capitalise when they had the chance in the first half, although he was pleased with their efforts on the night.
“We created many opportunities in the first half, but we failed to make the most of them, and so I am very sorry for that,” Rossi told Sky in an interview.
“At 2-0 down, we suffered psychologically, and at that moment it was always going to be difficult to get back in to the match.
“The goals Milan scored were a little unfortunate for us, as the first was offside, the second came from a lost ball in the midfield, and we were simply punished for the third,” he added.
“We gave our all tonight, we were aggressive, and so we had a good match.
“We must continue to play in this manner in the future, to ensure that we improve this season,” he concluded.
Lazio will be desperate to get back on the winner’s list next weekend, when they travel to Florence to face Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi stadium.
