Before preparing for the new season, Lazio will have a major priority: to ensure Cristian Ledesma does not leave the club. The Argentinean-born midfielder has finally received his double passport and would now be available to play for Marcello Lippi's Italy (having never been called up to the Selección).

After a month of delays, his manager D'Ippolito has arranged a decisive meeting with president Claudio Lotito to discuss the contract renewal. In the last meeting D'Ippolito made it clear Ledesma expects a raise. If the contract isn't adjusted before the summer training camp, it won't be adjusted anymore, and next year the player will be able to free himself thanks to Fifa's article 17.

Ledesma's contract runs until 2011 and the president is starting to realise that Ledesma, who is very well seen by everyone at Lazio, deserves a contract like striker Tommaso Rocchi's, who currently earns twice what Ledesma makes. Also, Lotito will propose an extended deal, and it will be up to Ledesma to accept it.
