After a rather wobbly start to the new league campaign, Sevilla have rediscovered their sizzling form as they climb up to joint-second in the Primera Division standings, alongside
This followed the impressive 4-3 victory at Real Madrid just a week prior, and the Blanquirrojos’ influential winger, Jesus Navas, believes that the squad’s ambitions and intensity was the key behind those triumphs.
“I think the team is working very well at the moment. We have delivered the kind of intensity that the coach [Manolo Jimenez] asks of us,” he was quoted as saying by Marca.
“Against Villarreal, the key was to put pressure on our opponents right from the start and in the second half, we maintained the same level of intensity. We played at the same rate throughout the 90 minutes and that was the key to our victory.
“It was a game that we really wanted to play… a big game against one of the strongest teams in the league and we needed to win to stay in the top four.”
The 23-year-old, however, refused to get carried away with their current position in the table as he urged the need to continue aiming high.
“We must be ambitious. We play every game to win and that is the mentality we must always have.
“While we will continue to aim big, we must also remain calm because the most important thing is to be right up there at the end of the season,” he concluded.
