Santos wait on Independiente for Rodriguez debut

Santos wait on Independiente for Rodriguez debut

Latest Real Madrid have shut Ferguson's mouth for me, says Ronaldo Previous

Irregularities in the transfer paperwork mean the youngster is ineligible for official matches, and the Brazilians are considering going to Fifa in order to make him available

Patricio Rodriguez may see his hopes of making a Santos debut frustrated, as it emerges that former club Independiente are yet to release vital documentation that would allow the No. 10 to play in the Brasileirao.

The starlet, 22, finalised a move to Vila Belmiro in July 2012, signing a four-year contract with the Peixe in a transfer worth $2 million for 50 per cent of his playing rights from the Argentines.

Having announced the move over two weeks ago, 'Pato' was expected to be handed a first start this Sunday, away to Nautico.

According to Globoesporte, however, Independiente have failed to hand Rodriguez's registration details to the Argentine Football Association (AFA), who in turn have been unable to officialise the transfer with Fifa.

This means that the youngster, who has been training with the Peixe reserves, is still ineligible to play competitive football with his new team.

Santos will consider making an official complaint to the world football governing body, pressuring Independiente into completing the paperwork, which will allow their new signing to take to the field.

Having been hit with the absences of key players such as Neymar and Ganso due to London 2012, Santos languish in 16th place in the table - just one point clear of the relegation zone.

BRILLIANT FROM SUBOTIC! The sliding Serbian somehow manages to hook the ball off the line, after Muller had skipped around Weidenfeller and fired goalwards. Terrific defending! Moments later, Lewandowski does find the back of the net, with a stunning dipping volley from distance, but the whistle had already blown for a handball by the big Pole. We'll give Neuer the benefit of the doubt and say that's why he didn't get a hand on it!

To score a penalty in a Champions League final takes real bottle (just ask John Terry!), so for Gundogan to convert what was his first ever spot-kick for Dortmund is seriously impressive. Talk about ice in the veins.
9:12 PM BST
... AND HE SCORES!!! Gundogan sends Neuer the wrong way, firing low to the goalkeeper's left to level the Champions League final. What a response from Dortmund! But seriously, what a terribly executed challenge from Dante! He didn't even get near the ball!
9:10 PM BST
PENALTY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reus surges into the area and is clumsily booted in the stomach by Dante. Dreadfully sloppy challenge from the Brazilian. Gundogan is going to the take the penalty ...

GOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!!! BAYERN MAKE THE BREAKTHROUGH!!! Just moments after heading a Javi Martinez flick-on straight at Neuer, Mandzukic fully vindicates his selection in the Bayern starting line-up ahead of Mario Gomez (as if his superior work-rate wasn't reason enough alone!) by being on hand to convert a cut-back from Robben. A simple goal for the Croat - but an absolutely massive one. Just how will Dortmund react to having gone behind?
