The Brazilian starlet first announced that he was poised to leave the South American club, but then clarified that it was just joining in on the fun of the occasionSantos star Ganso gave the club's fans a major scare on Sunday when he announced via Twitter that he was set to leave the Copa Libertadores champions.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who has been strongly linked with a new challenge in recent months, first hinted that Sunday's match against Portuguesa would be his last for Santos.
"Today I say goodbye to Santos' fans with a broken heart," he wrote on the social networking site.
"Thank you for all! Good Sunday, everyone!"
However, just five minutes later, Ganso explained that it was all an April Fools' Day prank, much to the relief of the club's fans.
"April Fools' Day! A blessed day to you with a great victory from Santos later today !!!"
Ganso, who has eight Brazil caps to his name, broke into Santos' senior ranks in 2008.
