Manchester City Striker Carlos Tevez Blasts Argentina FA After Diego Maradona Dismissal
Forward hits out following boss' exit...
By Matt Monaghan
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has accused the Argentine Football Federation of breaking their word after they got rid of ex-head coach Diego Maradona.
Maradona, 49, was relieved of his position after the nation's World Cup 2010 exit at the quarter-final stage. Despite initial statements that he would keep his post, the legend was removed late last month.
Speaking to TyC Sports in Dublin for tonight's friendly against the Republic of Ireland, Tevez slammed the AFA for their actions.
He said: "Mr Grondona said Maradona could do what he liked (after the World Cup).
"In the changing room (after Argentina's elimination) Don Julio told Diego he would continue (as coach).
"If (Grondona) holds a meeting and I can say it to him face to face, I'll do it.
"There's a lot lacking in the AFA's word ... I say what I think and feel, I don't care if for the next match I'm in the national team or not."
