Reinaldo Rueda Steps Down As Honduras Coach
Rueda has now been linked with the Ecuador job...
By Rick D'Andrea
Accompanied by his entire coaching staff, Rueda made the announcement that he would be stepping aside.
"I have had contact with Ecuador," he told Teradeportes.com. "There is a proposal, but nothing is definite.
"The United Arab Emirates are also interested - and there is a lot of money involved - but I would have to sacrifice my family for it."
Rueda had met with the Honduras Selection Committee on a number of occasions and held extensive talks, but decided to part ways with the national team.
In a press conference he gave announcing his decision, Rueda said he would not be a "factor of disunity that was happening in Honduras after the [World Cup] finals."
"Thank you for everything and I wish the best of luck to those who take charge of the national team.
President of the Ecuador Football Federation, Luis Chiriboga, says he will announce who the nation's new coach will be in the coming week.
"I think in the first days of August, we will have out coaching staff," Chiriboga said.
