No new Hamburg deal for Son, reveals agent
The player's representative has revealed there have been "good talks" over a new deal with the club, although no terms have been agreed as yet for the coveted 20-year-old
EXCLUSIVEBy Daniel Jovanov
Hamburg starlet Heung-Min Son has not yet agreed a new contract with the club, although initial talks have been promising, Goal.com has learned.
Reports emerged from South Korea that the 20-year-old had already reached an agreement with the Bundesliga side over a new deal, but the player's agent has denied that any terms have yet been decided.
When asked whether a new contract had been agreed, Thies Bliemeister told Goal.com: "This information is not correct."
He did, however, reveal that "good talks" had been held with the club's sporting director Frank Arnesen back in February.
Son, whose current deal expires in 2014, is understood to have been offered a deal worth €2.8 million-a-year, which he and his agent have not yet agreed to.
The Gangwon-born attacker would prefer to see how the team is able to develop over the final few months of the season, although he admitted at the end of February that he would be happy to extend his spell with Thorsten Fink's side.
Son has been one of Hamburg's standout players of the campaign, with nine goals and two assists to his name in the Bundesliga so far, and has attracted the interest of several clubs across Europe following his impressive performances.
Tottenham and Liverpool are thought to be willing to pay up to €12m this summer to land the player, although his Hamburg team-mate and former Spurs star Rafael van der Vaart has urged him to stay with the club for the time being.
