Giampaolo Pazzini could be on his way out of AC Milan in the January transfer window, with both Sampdoria and Palermo showing an interest in signing the attacker, Goal.com can reveal.

The 28-year-old joined the Rossoneri from Inter ahead of the 2012-13 campaign in a player-exchange deal involving Antonio Cassano, but has so far been unable to make an impact at his new club.

The Italy international has netted in only three of the 15 official games in which he has featured, and has mainly been confined to the bench at Milan.

Accordingly, he is eager to move on again in order to get regular first-team football elsewhere, and Palermo and Sampdoria are closely monitoring his situation.

The Sicilians are keen to add a target man to their squad in the winter transfer window, and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini sees Pazzini as a good addition to his attack.

A transfer to Sampdoria, meanwhile, would mean a return to the club where the striker developed into one of Serie A's most prolific attackers between 2009 and 2011.

However, a January switch is by no means a certainty yet as neither Palermo nor Sampdoria have made an official approach at this point.
