I will play the 'game of my life' against Barcelona, says Celtic defender Ambrose
The Nigerian scored a 90th-minute own goal as the Bhoys threw away victory against Dundee United on Saturday, but hopes to make up for his error int he Champions League
EXCLUSIVEBy Sam Ade Oguns
Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has promised to give his best ever performance for the club when they host Barcelona in the Champions Leagueon Wednesday.
The Nigerian scored a last-gasp own goal as the Bhoys conceded twice in the final minutes to draw with Dundee United on Saturday and is determined to atone for his error.
And he hopes to do so when the La Liga side visit Parkhead hoping to post a second victory over the Scottish outfit in Group G.
“I know a lot of Celtic fans were disappointed with my own goal against Dundee United but I have vowed to redeem my image before my fans by playing a game of my life against Barcelona,” Ambrose told Goal.com.
“Wednesday’s match will afford me the grace of saying I am sorry to the fans by putting up a very solid performance to help my team beat Barcelona.
“People may think that I am being over ambitious by saying Celtic is eyeing a victory against Barca in Wednesday’s match.
"But we played a very good game at Nou Camp and only a momentary loss of concentration cost us a valuable point in Spain.
“So now playing on our own ground and in the presence of our fans will surely serve as a very good boost. I am confident of victory in this match."
