The left-back appeared to be on his way to either the Giallorossi or the Partenopei, but the San Siro giants have now entered the race to sign the 30-year-old

AC Milan are hoping to hijack Roma's move for Palermo defender Federico Balzaretti and are preparing a late assault for the Italy international, Goal.com can reveal.
Even though the Sicilians have already agreed terms in principle with Napoli over a transfer, Roma remain favourites to land the left-back, who would prefer to move to the Italian capital.
Nevertheless, Milan believe they have a chance of luring Balzaretti to Lombardy instead by offering him a higher salary than he could earn at the Giallorossi.
The San Siro side could also include Colombian defender Mario Yepes in the deal.
Balzaretti, who has a contract until June 2013, has also caught the attention of clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Lazio.
The left-back would follow in the footsteps of Antonio Nocerino if he were to join the Rossoneri. The versatile midfielder left Palermo for Milan in the summer of 2011.
