Alberto Gilardino could be on his way to Inter this summer as Genoa have offered the striker to the Giuseppe Meazza side, Goal.com understands.
The Nerazzurri are looking to add some fresh blood to their squad following the departures of Diego Forlan and Mauro Zarate, while Giampaolo Pazzini and Luc Castaignos are set to leave the club as well.
Inter's need for attacking reinforcements has not gone unnoticed elsewhere, and Genoa see the 2010 Champions League winners' current situation as a good opportunity to offload Gilardino.
The 30-year-old attacker joined Genoa from Fiorentina in January, but the Grifone are ready to let go of Gilardino again as they feel his €1.5 million annual wage packet has become unsustainable.
Nevertheless, Inter are having serious doubts as to whether Gilardino is the right man to strengthen their attack, and they could opt to give promising youngster Samuele Longo the chance to prove his worth instead.
