Inter set sights on Silvestre

The Nerazzurri want to pair the 27-year-old Argentine with compatriot Walter Samuel but the Rosanero will not accept anything less than €8 million for the player

Inter have decided that Matias Silvestre is the man to build their defence around next season but whether he ends up at San Siro depends on the outcome of Palermo's bid to sign Catania centre-back Nicolas Spolli as a replacement, Goal.com has learned.
The Nerazzurri are desperate to bolster their back line with Lucio out of contract, Andrea Ranocchia not living up to expectations and Juan set to be farmed out on loan for a season, with both Sampdoria and Chievo interested in the Brazilian youngster.
Inter have now set their sights on Silvestre. The Argentine only joined the Rosanero from Catania last season but Palermo are willing to sell.
However, they will not accept anything less than €8 million for the defender and, in addition, they will not allow him to leave the Renzo Barbera if they fail to persuade Catania to part company with Silvestre's former Rosazzurri team-mate Spolli.
Palermo, though, are willing to offer their fellow Sicilians a 50 per cent stake in Slovenia international Jasmin Kurtic as well as outright ownership of Davide Lanzafame.
Such a deal could appeal to Catania, who have just hired Rolando Maran and Kurtic spent last season on loan at their new coach's former club, Varese.
