On Tuesday, Claudio Ranieri’s Juventus team will fly to
Messina, where they will meet French side Monaco in a friendly match.
The encounter will serve to give the coach an indication of his side’s condition, and the players will use it to acquire some valuable match practice ahead of a hectic part of the season.
The only other times Juve have met the French side were around ten years ago. Juventus and Monaco met in the semi-finals of the 1997-98 edition of the Champions League, where the Bianconeri won the first leg in Turin 4-1, while losing the second 3-2 in France.
Monaco is currently coached by Brazilian Ricardo Gomes and the team find themselves in a mid-table position in the French Ligue 1. Juve are without their top defender, as Giorgio Chiellini is to be rested due to a slight muscle strain.
The match will be played in Messina at the San Filippo Stadium at 18:00 CET.
