Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has hailed Alessandro Del Piero and admits he is surprised by the form of his captain.
The Italian striker has been in the form of his life in 2008 and he finished last season as Serie A top-scorer.
Many critics felt Del Piero was finished, but this notion is non existent at Vinovo. Gigli has now come out to thank his hard working hit-man for all the hard work this year.
Praise was not solely focussed on Del Piero though as the team also received a pat on the back.
"The thing that has stood out most is his physical shape and fitness," Gigli told Sky Sport Italia.
"No-one has ever doubted Del Piero as being a great champion, but he has shown it more this year.
"His physical presence on the pitch this year has been fundamental.
"I am pleased with 2008, the team has done great things."
The Old Lady are currently six points behind league leaders Inter. Success in the Champions League is also a priority this term.
