Despite David Trezeguet’s injury, Vincenzo Iaquinta is finding it even harder to get much playing time for Juventus this season, as summer recruit Amauri has immediately started firing on all cylinders at the Stadio Olimpico.
“There is no escape here,” the ex-Udinese forward admitted in Tuttosport. “Of course, I too would like to be in the starting line-up, but my teammates are all great champions.
“However, you will never see me stir up controversies just for the sake of it. Before moving to this club, I knew what I had to expect. And when Trezeguet will return to action, we will have even more fire power.”
Former Palermo star Amauri has made a superb start to life in Turin since moving from Sicily this summer and Iaquinta joked that his problems started then.
“I respect the coach’s decisions and I am aware of my strength, but I know there is a high level of competition here,” he continued.
“Competition that has increased even more since my good friend Amauri arrived and stole my place in the squad.”
“But all jokes aside, he is a champion in this role and has quickly settled in. And everyone knows the weight of this shirt.”
