From 1990 to around August in 2006, the Bianconeri played their home matches at the Stadio Delle Alpi in Turin, a stadium in which they were forced to move away from due to restructuring during the Winter Olympic Games.
The club decided to move to the nearby Stadio Olimpico, a ground that can hold a mere 27,500 spectators, and a home venue that they share with their neighboring rivals Torino.
However, the Old Lady can now look forward to a brand new stadium. The initial estimates is that the venue will seat approximately 40,200 people, and the developments are set to cost the club around €105 million.
Avra is the name of the sponsor assisting them in the construction of the stadium, in the 355,000 square meter development. There will be eight restaurants, 24 bars, 459 press seats and 84 sky boxes, within the new establishment, making it a world class facility.
Construction on the stadium has finally got under way, and the club remains optimistic that it will be completed prior to the 2011/12 season.
