The Bianconeri are looking to strengthen their squad during the winter transfer window and with so many injuries in the middle, a top midfielder is priority. Juventus have made contact with Spurs having sent a representative to North London to begin negotiations.
Modric has popped up on the Old Lady's radar and the club is expected to make a move for him. The Croatian international was outstanding during the 2008 European Championship but he has not been too great since moving to White Hart Lane in the summer.
Juande Ramos hardly played Modric during his time on the bench but this has changed since Harry Redknapp took over as the Croatian has played in both of Tottenham's last two matches.
This is likely to put him on the shop window with the Bianconeri playing close interest.
It seems as if Tottenham are willing to allow the player to leave on a loan deal with the option to make the move a permanent one at the end of the season.
Juve are showing good tactics on the transfer front as they attempt to sneak in ahead of the competition. The Italians need a creative midfielder and Modric could arrive as soon as the new year.
