With it almost 100% certain that German international striker Podolski will leave the Allianz Arena in the summer, Borussia Dortmund have seemingly joined Bundesliga rivals Köln in the race to sign him.
“There are four or five other Bundesliga clubs interested in Lukas” Bayern manager Uli Hoeness confirmed to ‘Bild’.
One of those ‘four or five’ is reportedly Dortmund, who were linked with a move for the 23 year old in the summer.
“We will sit down with our trainer Jürgen Klopp and manager Michael Zorc in the break and discuss who we might like to look at,” Borussia director Hans-Joachim Watzke explained.
Podolski would certainly fit the sporting profile Dortmund are looking to and the Ruhr club would be able to offer a higher fee and better long-term prospects.
Added to that Dortmund trainer Jürgen Klopp is a confirmed fan of Podolski.
The Black and Yellows tried to sign the German striker in the summer where Klopp and Podolski were rumoured to have held talks at the European Championships.
