The Benfica defender doesn't think that his team are sitting in pole position to lift the trophy in Buenos Aires and expects a tight game against Gerardo Martino's men

Uruguay defender Maxi Pereira has voiced his opinion that his side are not the favourites in Sunday's Copa America final against Paraguay.

The Paraguayans qualified for the final without winning a single match in regular time, but Pereira feels that results from the past few weeks won't have any effect on the outcome of this year's final.

"Some people consider us to be the favourites because of the performances from both teams so far. However, the results from the past couple of weeks don't mean anything in the final," Pereira was quoted as saying by EFE.

"We have a great chance to crown our performances so far by winning the tournament. However, we are aware of the fact that Paraguay are a great team. They will be a tough opponent and I expect a tight game."

Paraguay have won the tournament twice in its history, while Uruguay have already lifted the trophy on 14 occasions.
