The Manchester United winger sustained the knock in his side's scoreless draw with Paraguay and was forced to watch the match against Venezuela from the stands as a result of the problem.
"Valencia still has a lot of pain in his left ankle," team physiotherapist Tony Ocampo stated, according to Eurosport.
The 26-year-old suffered severe bruising in the same place where he underwent surgery last year after breaking his ankle in a Champions League match versus Rangers.
Ecuador currently sit fourth in Group B, and need three points against Brazil on July 14 in order to qualify for the knockout stage.
