New Inter skipper Andrea Ranocchia is determined to follow in the footsteps of former team-mate Javier Zanetti and help the Giuseppe Meazza side to silverware in years to come.
The centre-back was handed the captain's armband following Zanetti's retirement at the end of the 2013-14 campaign and he says he is determined to prove coach Walter Mazzarri right for electing him as the team's new skipper.
"I don't know if I'm predestined for anything, but I've always believed in the colours of this club," the defender told reporters.
"I want to raise a few trophies as Inter captain, seeing how the coach and club have decided to go with me as team skipper.
"We can say it brings more responsibility, but I'm ready and I'm glad the coach and club have chosen me for the role. I want to continue what Zanetti did here.
"I'll honour the shirt as I've always done and I hope we can reach our objectives."
Inter finished fifth in Serie A last term, thus qualifying for Europa League football.
