The Argentine remembers fondly the impact of another South American at San Siro and has his eyes set on leaving a similar mark on the clubInter arrival Ruben Botta has voiced his admiration for Alvaro Recoba and is keen to follow in the footsteps of the Uruguayan at San Siro.
The 24-year-old joined the club from Livorno during the January transfer window and has fond memories of watching the former Nerazzurri favourite in action during his 11-year stay in Milan.
"Recoba was a fantastic player. I used to love the way he played the game," Botta stated at a press conference.
"I have to work my socks off to perform at my best wearing such an important jersey. I try to learn from players like Recoba who can make the difference on the pitch."
The 24-year-old then went on to explain his decision to join Inter and admitted that the presence of fellow Argentines Javier Zanetti and Esteban Cambiasso played a big role in his move.
"This club is a dream for Argentine players and not only Argentines. Of course the fact that there were lots of my fellow countrymen here did influence my choice because they are great men and great footballers.
"I'm trying to learn everything I can from them."
Botta has made four Serie A appearances for Inter since joining the club from Livorno in January.
