Mancini excited by Tevez reunion

The pair, who had a sensational bust-up during their time together at Manchester City, will come face to face before their current clubs' Champions League clash in Turin
Galatasaray boss Roberto Mancini insists that he will be "delighted" to see former charge Carlos Tevez again when his new side take on Juventus on Wednesday.

The two previously worked together at Manchester City and infamously clashed during a Champions League match against Bayern Munich in 2011, when substitute Tevez refused to play after being ordered off the bench.

The two endured a factious relationship following the altercation, immediately after which Mancini snapped "If I have my way he will be out, he's finished with me," but Mancini says he will be happy to see the Argentina star.

“I'm delighted to meet Tevez again after three months. We've always had an extraordinary relationship, winning three trophies together at Manchester City,” the former Inter coach told a press conference on the eve of the Champions League clash in Turin.

“He's a great player and I don't think he'll pass up on this game just because of an ankle niggle.”

The Group B match will mark Mancini’s debut on the Galatasaray bench and the newly-arrived Italian admitted his preparation for the tie has hardly been ideal.

“It's going to be strange for me,” he continued. “I only met the team for the first time yesterday. It's not like I have a magic wand.

"I hope the team, who looked great when I met them, can play a great game as we're up against a great Juve and it's going to be very difficult. We can only win with hard work.

“I'm lucky we have a break after our next fixture so I'll have time to get to know the team. Galatasaray have a great side and can always improve.

"As for the tactics, not even I know yet how we'll play. We'll see tomorrow ...”

The 48-year-old coach also acknowledged the fans’ disappointment at the dismissal of his predecessor Fatih terim.

“It's normal that Fatih Terim is loved by the fans - he is one of the biggest Turkish coaches and one of the biggest in Europe, but these things happen in football," he pointed out.

"I was called by Galatasaray and I'm delighted. I want to carry on Terim's good work.”

Galatasaray's clash with the Bianconeri at Juventus Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 20:45CET.
