Fan killed in Argentine hooligan brawl
Another episode of violence between supporters has lead to the death of a man before a second division match on Saturday
A 31-year-old man has been killed following clashes between rivals sets of fans in La Plata, Argentina, prior to the game between Gimnasia and Nueva Chicago.Police sources identified the victim as Julio Vizaci - known to locals as 'El Topo' - after he was hit by a bullet to his abdominal area and taken to San Martin hospital, where he died.
Meanwhile, an 11-year-old is in stable condition after being injured in the same clash, and was transferred to Sor Maria Ludovica hospital after being shot in the waist.
The fan confrontations took place along Pereyra Iraola Avenue, between the zoo and Museum of Natural Science, just before Gimnasia's 4-0 victory over Chicago.
Saturday's incidents were preceeded by violence between River Plate and Tigre supporters the previous week, when 14 people were wounded, including three critically.
