Two players from Argentina's Primera Division, Gustavo Canales and Lucas Bernardi, have been suspended following positive doping tests.

Canales, of Arsenal de Sarandi, and Bernardi of Newell's Old Boys, have both been banned after testing positive for banned substances following matches in October and November of this year.

Both players have been handed provisional suspensions effective immediately, although no final sanctions will be issued until the results of the tests are confirmed.

Striker Canales, who has one cap for Chile to his name, won the Copa Sudamericana with Universidad de Chile last year, before signing for Chinese Super League side Dalian Aerbin prior to his move to Argentina.

Veteran midfielder Bernardi, who has represented Argentina six times, has played more than 200 games for AS Monaco and was part of the side which reached the Champions League final in 2004.
