Maradona breaks silence over 'inhumane' accusations
The Argentina legend's son hit out at the behaviour of the 52-year-old during a recent television interview, and the former Napoli man has now given his version of events
Diego Maradona has released a statement through his lawyers following a damning verbal attack from his son.The former Napoli man was accused of being "inhumane" by Diego Sinagra during a television interview last week, with his mother Veronica expecting another child with the Argentina legend.
"Maradona recognises that the baby Veronica is carrying is his, but he wants to make it clear that their relationship is in a phase of impasse, and will only talk about it on his return from Argentina," a statement from his representatives read.
Sinagra, born in Naples in 1986, famously tricked his way onto a golf course that his father was playing on after Maradona refused to take a DNA test to prove he was his biological father.
But he was reportedly sent away and given €1 million to keep their relationship from the press - though that is a claim Sinagra has been quick to deny.
"I do not want to add anything to all these lies disclosed in the press by my father. I just want to clarify that there is nothing true in all that has been said. I would not even know how to spell that amount of money - I will be talking to my lawyers on Friday."
