Maradona in talks to coach in China
After seeing his spell in the UAE come to a premature end, agents linked with the explosive legend maintain that negotiations are under way to take him to an unnamed Chinese club
Former Al Wasl and Argentina coach Diego Maradona could be heading for a new challenge in China, after he was pictured in a meeting with a representative of a Super League club in Dubai.Ole revealed on Monday that the controversial 51-year-old, a World Cup winner in 1986 with the Albiceleste met with agents Daniel Dos Reis and Diego Cativa in the Emirati city to discuss his next move after being relieved of his duties by Al Wasl.
Also present was a representative of an unnamed Chinese institution, who would be interested in making Diego the second Argentine coach in the nation alongside Shanghai Shenhua's Sergio Batista.
According to Dos Reis, talks are well under way and Maradona is open to the chance of continuing his career in the Far East.
"We met in his house and [Diego] looked excited about the opportunity. Now the economic side is being discussed," the agent told Ole.
The Chinese Super League has been thrust into the headlines this summer, with massive investment from club owners bringing in stars such as former Chelsea pair Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba to the Asian nation.
