Al Wasl announced that head coach Diego Maradona has been admitted to a local hospital. The 51-year-old went for a check-up earlier on Sunday and was diagnosed with kidney stones.
Maradona was kept in for observation and it was later decided that the former Argentina star will undergo surgery.
"He felt pain this morning so he was sent to a private hospital in Dubai this afternoon. He will be operated on this evening and he is expected to be discharged tomorrow," said an Al Wasl spokesman.
Al Wasl are expected to provide further updates about Maradona's situation on Monday.
