Banfield playmaker Walter Erviti declared himself pleased with the Taladro's 1-0 defeat of fellow Argentines Velez Sarsfield in the Copa Sudamericana, though also recognising that there is still a long way to go in the tie.

Erviti supplied the pass for the only goal of the game, which handed Banfield an away win that undoubtedly puts them in the driving seat for the tie. And the ex-Monterrey midfielder affirmed that he was happy with the result and how his side played.

"We managed an important victory, but there is still time. Today the the weather did not help but we are an organised team and we knew that defending well and playing on the counter we could do damage," Erviti revealed in the post-match press conference.

Defender Marcelo Bustamente added that the slim one-goal lead by no means meant that Banfield could rest on their laurels for the return match on September 26.

"Taking on Velez is special for me and today we are leaving very happy. We have to carry on working and thinking that still nothing has been achieved."
