Independiente Coach Dany Garnero Has Two Games To Save His Job - Report

Garnero needs positive results against Newell's Old Boys and Argentinos Juniors to save his Independiente job...

Under-fire Independiente tecnico Dany Garnero will be given two games to avoid the sack at the Doble Visera, as pressure mounts on the ex-Arsenal de Sarandi tactician.

Los Rojos have had a disastrous start to the season, with a solitary Copa Sudamericana win over Argentinos Juniors the only victory for last year's title challengers. The Avellaneda side are rock bottom of the Apertura with one point from 12, and it appears the next two games will be key in deciding 'El Flaco's' future.

Ole reports that club president Julio Comparada will today meet other members of the board of directors to request that Garnero is given this weekend's clash against Newell's Old Boys followed by the Copa return match in midweek to prove himself. If results do not go the club's way and especially if they are eliminated from continental competition, it will most likely spell the end of Garnero's short stint as tecnico.

Meanwhile Comparada also placed himself in the role of public peacemaker, as he attempted to quell unease that has been growing on the terraces as well as in the boardroom.

"We should not start crying, we live in a football environment where success is everything. When I was a fan I also used to whistle and insult but as a director I have to think in cold blood. It also makes me anxious when we don't win, and for that reason I ask the fans that they support us, because it is crucial we continue in the Copa," the president stated yesterday night.

"The idea is to support Dany beyond the next few matches."
