Racing Club Coach Miguel Angel Russo: These Kids Are Like My Sons
Racing coach Russo will play six graduates of the club's youth academy as La Academia look to return to winning ways against Colon...
By Daniel Edwards
Miguel Angel Russo will put his trust in the kids for Racing Club's crucial clash tomorrow night against Colon, with youngsters Sebastian Mayorga, Jose Fernandez and Luis Farinas given key roles in midifeld.
With four first team players unavailable, Russo has chosen to trust in the hunger and talent of the Academia youth ranks over the more experienced players in his squad. Therefore 21-year-old Brian Lluy and 22-year-old Jose Fernandez will take charge of right-back and left midfield respectively; Sebastian Mayorga, 20, will form a double pivot with Claudio Yacob and 19-year-old Luis Fariña will play behind Claudio Bieler as enganche.
Including Yacob and Matias Martinez, the team will boast six academy graduates 23 and under, with 17-year-old Bruno Zuculini on the bench.
"The kids are like my own sons," Russo affirmed to Ole after training on Wednesday afternoon.
"I care for them, I protect them and then I let them free. I am a coach who has played several youngsters, but you have to bring them in slowly."
Probable Racing team (4-4-1-1):
Fernandez; Lluy, Martínez, Aveldano, Licht; Lugüercio, Mayorga, Yacob, Fernandez; Farina; Bieler.
