Mariano Pavone Poised To Make River Plate Debut - Report
The new Millo arrival has recovered from injury and could make the bench on Sunday...
By Daniel Edwards
Clarin reports that Pavone trained at the side of his first team companions for the first time since joining the Millonarios in pre-season, and showed no signs of distress as he completed the entire session. Depending on how the player develops over the week there is a good chance he will appear on the bench against Independiente on Sunday.
One player Cappa will have to replace is Ariel Ortega as the River legend was sent off on Sunday and will have to complete a suspension. Ex-Velez Sarsfield striker Leandro Caruso and youngster Manuel Lanzini will compete for the opportunity to partner Rogelio Funes Mori in attack, with Diego Buonanotte moving to a more central number 10 position.
Probable River Team (4-3-1-2) Carrizo; Ferrari, Maidana, Ferrero, Arano; Affranchino, Almeyda, Pereyra; Buonanotte; Lanzini or Caruso, Mori.
